About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and solutions-focused Electronics Engineer to join the Engineering and Manufacturing Services Team within the College of Science and Engineering.
In this hands-on role, you will deliver high-quality electronic engineering services to support both teaching and research activities. You will design, build, and commission specialised electronic systems, working closely with academic staff, students, and external partners to develop practical, fit-for-purpose engineering solutions. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge environments where your work will directly support real-world teaching and research outcomes.
As an Electronics Engineer, you will:
Design, develop, construct, and commission specialised electronic systems and apparatus, while delivering technical projects aligned with College priorities, ensuring quality, safety, and efficiency.
Maintain, repair, and calibrate laboratory and workshop equipment, alongside preparing and managing technical documentation including design records and compliance materials.
Develop risk assessments, safe work procedures, and calibration protocols, and liaise with external suppliers, contractors, and stakeholders on complex technical matters.
About You
You are an Electronics Engineer with a strong technical foundation and a practical, solutions-oriented mindset. You thrive in a collaborative environment and enjoy applying your expertise to support both teaching and research outcomes.
You will demonstrate:
A degree in Electronics Engineering (or equivalent) and eligibility for membership with Engineers Australia
Strong experience in PCB design (including signal integrity and design for manufacture) and embedded systems development and programming
Proven ability to construct, repair, and modify electronic systems and assemblies, with strong skills in interpreting schematics, technical documentation, and manufacturer specifications
Experience managing or contributing to technical projects, including planning, prioritisation, and delivery in a busy environment
Desirable:
Experience with LabVIEW and data acquisition systems
Knowledge of control systems and industrial sensors/actuators
Familiarity with regulatory standards and compliance requirements
