Draftsman / Engineer - Commercial Millwork
Location: Dallas, TX (On-site)

Reports To: Lead Engineer
Salary: $70,000 annually (full-time, salaried)
Position Summary
The Draftsman / Engineer is responsible for developing and executing shop drawings and engineering documentation for custom commercial millwork projects. This role translates architectural plans and project estimates into accurate, buildable drawing packages that support CNC production, fabrication, and installation.
You'll work closely with Project Managers and production teams to ensure all drawings are coordinated, code-compliant, and aligned with manufacturing capabilities and field conditions.
Key Responsibilities
Shop Drawings & Engineering
• Create detailed, buildable millwork drawing packages from architectural plans and estimates
• Produce layouts, sections, details, and assemblies using CAD and/or Cabinet Vision
• Define materials, dimensions, joinery, and component relationships
Design Interpretation & Constructability
• Identify and resolve design conflicts, gaps, and constructability issues
• Develop practical solutions aligned with design intent, shop capabilities, and codes
Production & CNC Integration
• Generate drawings and data outputs for CNC manufacturing
• Optimize designs for efficient production and minimal rework
• Improve drawing standards and workflows for accuracy and efficiency
Cross-Functional Coordination
• Partner with Project Managers on scope, schedule, and budget alignment
• Collaborate with shop teams to ensure clear execution
• Incorporate field and production feedback into revisions
• Resolve technical issues to keep projects on track
Quality & Standards
• Ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of all deliverables
• Maintain company drafting standards and best practices
Qualifications
• Experience as a CAD Draftsman, Cabinet Vision Engineer, or similar role in commercial millwork
• Strong understanding of millwork materials, construction methods, and manufacturing processes
• Proficiency in Cabinet Vision and/or CAD software (Microvellum a plus)
• Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and specifications
• Experience supporting CNC-based manufacturing workflows
