Regional Preparedness Liaison
About the Role:
We are seeking a mission-driven and collaborative Regional Preparedness Liaison to support regional preparedness and coordination activities for FEMA Region X. This Seattle-based, part-time position (likely 3 days per week), will play a critical role in ensuring regional stakeholders are engaged and aligned with FEMA’s preparedness priorities, policies, and operational planning. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on strategic and operational efforts that enhance regional resilience in the face of disasters and emergencies.

Key Responsibilities:
Serve as a liaison between FEMA Headquarters and the Region X office, coordinating preparedness efforts across federal, state, tribal, territorial, and local partners.
Support the development, revision, and implementation of regional plans, including Threat and Hazard Identification and Risk Assessments (THIRA), Stakeholder Preparedness Reviews (SPR), and other risk-based planning products.
Provide technical and administrative support to regional interagency boards, working groups, and preparedness initiatives.
Coordinate data gathering and stakeholder input to ensure regional plans align with national preparedness goals and priorities.
Monitor and report progress on planning initiatives and regional capabilities assessments.
Represent FEMA and the National Preparedness Directorate at relevant preparedness meetings, conferences, and workshops in the region.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree is required in emergency management, public policy, or related field.
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in emergency management, homeland security, or related fields.
Demonstrated understanding of FEMA’s preparedness frameworks, such as the National Preparedness System, THIRA/SPR, and Integrated Preparedness Planning.
Experience engaging with federal, state, local, tribal, and/or territorial emergency management stakeholders.
Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to manage virtual collaboration tools.
Work Environment:
This position is based in Seattle, WA and requires in-person presence at the regional office (likely 3 days/week).
Travel within the region may be required occasionally to support stakeholder engagement and exercises.
