What will this position do?

This position is responsible for designing, leading, and continuously improving PRC’s procurement system to ensure that all materials, standard, specialty, bulk, and consumables are available when needed to support uninterrupted production flow.

Our Purchasing Manager will be Pro-Active and create a system driven operation by establishing clear processes, visibility, and accountability across Estimating, Design, Warehouse, Project Management, and Production.

Our Purchasing Manager's Top Three Priorities:Priority #1 - Ensure Material Readiness for Production: Materials required for each project are: Identified, Ordered, and Delivered.Priority #2 - Build and Maintain a Scalable Purchasing System: Develop and enforce standardized processes that provide clear visibility into: What needs to be ordered What has been ordered What has been receivedPriority #3 - Lead and Develop the Purchasing Team: Manage and develop the Purchasing Team by: Setting clear expectations Providing training and coaching Delegating effectively Ensuring accountability to department KPI’s What else will you do?

Strategic LeadershipDevelop and implement purchasing strategies to improve efficiency and reduce costs.Identify and address compatibility with specialty items early in the project lifecycle.Establish and maintain a standardized process for procurement and inventory management.

Team ManagementLead, train, and mentor the procurement team.Standardize training processes and provide onboarding for new team members.Delegate and oversee tasks, ensuring alignment with department goals.

Procurement OperationsEnsure specialty and standard materials are procured on time to avoid production delays.Monitor vendor performance and negotiate contracts to resolve recurring issues.Reconcile problematic invoices and generate reports for corrective action.

Collaboration and CommunicationCollaborate with internal teams (PM, Estimating, Design, Production and Warehouse) to align material needs with project timelines.Communicate effectively with stakeholders regarding procurement updates, delays, or changes.

Reporting and Quality AssuranceManage and update the Purchasing Status Report, including prioritization based on project deadlines and lead times.Oversee quality control processes for incoming materials, ensuring compatibility with project requirements.Maintain documentation for all procurement activities and generate reports for management.

Problem-Solving and Continuous ImprovementAddress escalated procurement emergencies, liaising with the Director of Estimating & Purchasing as needed.Propose and implement solutions to recurring procurement challenges.Lead initiatives for system improvements, such as MRP NetSuite integration, and identify areas for optimization.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEBachelor’s degree in business administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field.

(required)Minimum 5 years in procurement, with 3 years in a managerial role, preferably within the construction, manufacturing, or similar industry.

(required)Certification in CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management). (Preferred) SKILLS AND ABILITIESStrong interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across departments.Exceptional organizational and analytical abilities to handle complex procurement operations.Comprehensive understanding of technical specifications, construction materials, and lead time management.Ability to solve problems efficiently and implement effective long-term solutions.

PREFERRED TECHNOLOGY EXPERIENCEProficient in Microsoft Office Suite, NetSuite ERP, and other procurement tools.
