You should also be organized and able to stay calm under pressure. A host should be cheerful and love people, charming and sincere, even when they might not be feeling that way. You need to be able to speak clearly and collectedly, never rushing a conversations

A restaurant host's duties include:

Greeting guests, seating them, and managing reservations

Hosts also answer phones

Provide menus, and help ensure guests have a positive dining experience

Greeting guests and welcoming guests to the restaurant, providing a warm and friendly greeting

Answering questions about the restaurant and menu

Other duties maintaining a clean reception area

catering to guests who require extra attention, and assisting wait staff as needed
