Title: Preschool Coordinator - Preschool/Early Childhood Program
Qualifications:
Master's Degree in early childhood, special education or educational administration/leadership or supervision.
Valid Ohio Administrative License, Ohio Intervention Specialist License
Evidence of teaching or supervision of early education of students with disabilities or school-age special education programs.
Broad knowledge of state and federal early childhood special education laws, regulations, procedures, and reporting requirements.
Strong leadership and communication skills.
Demonstrate knowledge and ability to provide leadership
Demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain rapport with parents, building administrators, professional colleagues, staff and students
Proven ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders and work collaboratively in a team environment

Job Goal: To provide leadership and direction for Learning Steps Preschool Program as operated by the Fairfield County Educational Service Center, and to enable students with special education services to benefit from their educational opportunities to the fullest by eliminating or ameliorating barriers that interfere with student learning.
Performance Responsibilities:
Provides leadership support in the development of the county's early childhood special education program; assists in coordinating and supervising related activities and services. Support in the evaluation of existing programs and makes recommendations for improvements.
Serves as a county early childhood liaison for Help Me Grow.
Assists in coordinating procedures for child identification, referral, evaluations, placement, and provision of services, service coordination, and transition.
Assumes responsibility for the support, supervision and evaluation of certified and noncertified special education staff.
Stays abreast of all legal requirements governing early childhood special education, keeps staff informed of legal requirements and ensures that all requirements under administrative code, state/federal law and board policy are met.
Recommends policies and programs essential to the needs of children with special needs.
Adheres to procedures for identification, evaluation, placement and re-evaluation of students in need of special education and/or related services.
Assumes responsibility for district compliance with regulations regarding early childhood special education programs. Works with the district of residence (DOR) and district of service (DOS) to plan, develop, and coordinate the county's system of early childhood special education services.
Assists in the supervision and coordination of the activities of the IEP team members and ensures the placement of individual students with special needs in the least restrictive environment.
Assists in the supervision and coordination of itinerant services for early childhood special education students.
Interprets and explains the objectives of the county's early childhood special education program to parents, students, staff and the community.
Assists in providing teaching strategies to educators to support students receiving special education and related service, in the least restrictive environment, as outlined in their IEPs.
Assists IEP teams by providing coaching on behavior management strategies including the development of informal behavior plans, data collection tools data analysis, measurable annual IEP goal development and Behavior Intervention Plans.
Assists the Special Education Director with completing all requirements for Ohio's Scholarship programs including but not limited to evaluation, IEP development, maintaining compliance.
Provides small and large group coaching on IEP development focused on identifying present levels of academic achievement and functional performance that supports progress monitoring of monitoring of measurable outcomes of student growth and achieve
Works with transportation supervisor and DOR supervisor to arrange transportation of students with disabilities.
Develops and lead professional development on special education topics for staff
Assists with coverage for teachers due to unforeseen circumstances which may include providing specially designed instruction, progress monitoring assistance, scheduling and supporting IEP development.
Assists teachers in the development of implementation of transition programs for students
Assists as needed in testing to evaluate students suspected of having a disability
Remain current and knowledgeable regarding research and best practices in special education
Complete all tasks promptly and accurately meeting due dates and compliance timelines
Assists Director in the completion of staff evaluations (certified and non-certified) as assigned

Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissue.

Occasional interaction with aggressive, disruptive, and unruly children, and may have to assist with behavior modification.
Occasionally required to assist and lift children with mobility and physical needs, and occasionally assist with getting children on and off transportation vehicles.
