Ability to stoop, bend, and reachESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Performs duties in a safe and efficient manner.

Greets customers and provides them with prompt and courteous service or assistance as needed.

Assists in checking and verifying the Meat Department receivings when necessary.

Assists with weighing and breaking down meat products.

Takes products to refrigerated storage or shelf areas.

Ensures that all meat cuts are properly trimmed and attractively presented.

Ensures that product pricing makes adequate allowances for tare weights and shrink, as applicable.

Prices and displays product cases as directed by Department Manager.

Assists in wrapping and labeling product as required.

Rotates all of the products in accordance with department policies and product code dates.

Assists with scheduled inspections of packaged products for freshness and for visual appeal, pulling products for re-wrapping as required.

Checks refrigeration equipment regularly for proper temperatures and performance.

Takes care of damaged and spoiled products according to department procedures and takes positive action to control shrinkage.

Maintains a regular and effective housekeeping and sanitation program that meets all of the standards established by the department and all applicable health regulations.

Participates in training activities to increase personal skill levels, and to improve overall department processes and customer service.

Meets the physical requirements to perform the job functions listed above.EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

High school education preferred.

Previous experience with Meat Department operations.

Familiarity with products carried in the Meat Department.
