CNC Lathe Setup/Operator

Location: Kannapolis, NC

Shift: Day Shift

Pay: $23.00 – $27.00 per hour

About the Role

Machine Manufacture is seeking an experienced CNC Lathe Setup / Operator to support precision machining operations. This role requires a hands-on machinist who can independently set up, program at the machine as needed, and operate CNC lathes while maintaining quality and productivity standards.

Key Responsibilities

Set up and operate CNC lathes, including complete setup from print to first article

Configure tooling, fixtures, and offsets for production runs

Operate Doosan 480 and Doosan 420 lathes

Read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and work instructions

Perform in-process inspections using precision measuring instruments

Adjust offsets and tooling to maintain dimensional accuracy and surface finish

Troubleshoot machining and setup issues to minimize downtime

Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment

Work collaboratively with engineering, quality, and production teams

Required Qualifications

Proven experience as a CNC Lathe Setup / Operator

Hands-on knowledge of Doosan 480 and Doosan 420 machines

Strong understanding of turning operations, tooling, and cutting parameters

Ability to read complex blueprints and GD&T

Experience using micrometers, calipers, bore gages, and other inspection tools

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with high-mix, low-to-medium volume production

Basic CNC programming or program editing experience

Familiarity with tight-tolerance machining
