Research Engineer (495164)

Utilize experience with Large Language Models (LLMs), foundation models such as Gemini, and software engineering to develop AI-powered workflows end-to-end that balance research and engineering to create production-ready AI models. Responsible for building and optimizing data pipelines to process high-volume structured and unstructured data for training and evaluation, and for designing and executing benchmarks to evaluate AI models, improve performance, and reduce compute costs. Fine-tune and train LLMs for production engineering and reliability use cases, and will research and experiment with novel techniques, including reinforcement learning, retrieval-augmented generation, and autonomous reasoning. Responsible for translating research into scalable AI-powered solutions.

BS degree in Computer Science or related plus 3 years of experience as a Research Engineer, Software Engineer or related. Requires 3 years of experience with software engineering experience, including proficiency in Python, Go, or C++ and with distributed systems and cloud infrastructure. Requires 2 years of experience with foundation models such as GPT-4, Llama, or Gemini including post-training, fine-tuning, prompt engineering, and evaluation (with both human and LLM-based judges); and designing, building, and maintaining large-scale data pipelines for training and evaluating machine learning models and systems. Requires 1 year of experience planning and executing projects, mentoring junior engineers, and providing feedback to upskill the team; architecting, building, and deploying production-grade, tool-using agents powered by LLMs, with familiarity in cutting-edge research on multi-agent systems; and modern ML principles, including transformers, deep learning, and self-supervised learning.
