The FM manages the Finance Function of the business and is responsible for sound financial management, planning and control, timely and accurate financial reporting, commercial oversight, tax management, compliance, and risk management. The FM will support the CFO in cultivating a culture of excellence and high standards at the business, and in addition to close involvement in day-to-day operations will be involved in longer term strategic planning. The FM will maintain, build, and foster strong relationships with local stakeholders, including banks, tax authorities, accounting firms, the Chamber of Mines, the Ministry of Mines, and regulatory bodies.

Responsibilities:

The preparation of annual budgets and cashflow forecasts (short, medium, and long term).

The preparation of monthly management accounts comparing actual to budgeted performance and providing analysis on areas of variance. Regularly reviewing financial and operational performance and recommending corrective actions where necessary.

Ensuring accurate management accounts in a multicurrency environment.

Providing input for quarterly reports to the company's Board.

Analysing the company's financial results with respect to profits, cashflows, trends, and unit costs, and reporting these findings. Interrogating expenses and optimising costs.

Using strong commercial acumen to identify value adding opportunities and to drive improved profits and business performance.

Monitoring and control of capex against budget, with project accounting experience a positive.

Managing liquidity and exchange rate exposure.

Managing the interim and year end audit process, ensuring clean audits, and ensuring that recommendations from the auditors are implemented.

Managing tax compliance and tax efficiency across the business.

Careful oversight of the company's debt facilities.

Implementing and maintaining strong internal controls across all key areas of the business, including payments, procurement, and stores.

Risk management: identifying risks and implementing strategies to mitigate them.

Ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations, including but not limited to financial, legal, tax and accounting requirements and principles.

Ensuring compliance with exchange control regulations and local monetary policies.

Collaborating with the management team to ensure strong leadership that promotes trust among stakeholders in the business.

Establishing, developing, and maintaining good relationships with employees and external partners and stakeholders, and encouraging collaboration across different departments.

Providing guidance, training, and mentorship to the finance team as appropriate.

Ensuring the finance team is motivated, with high engagement and retention.

Developing talent and effectively managing any poor performance.

Ensuring adequate and appropriately skilled and experienced staffing.

Key Skills:

Significant experience in finance and accounting, with at least 5 years in management positions of which at least three years should be in a mining business.

Experience with underground mining and the accounting thereof would be a positive.

Strong experience and understanding of the Zimbabwe mining industry.

Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems, and advanced Excel skills.

Excellent organisational, communication, leadership, and negotiation skills.

Existing local networks with various stakeholders such as banks, the tax authority and regulatory bodies would be a positive.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.

Chartered Accountant (CA), ACCA, or similar qualification.
