Job Description
Chamberlain is looking for a skilled Manufacturing Engineer with previous experience in a CNC machining/chip cutting environment to serve as a continuous improvement driver, helping to ensure our processes are optimized for performance, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
Responsibilities
Develop, evaluate, and implement manufacturing processes to enhance the efficiency of product workflow and reduce waste
Utilize CAD/CAM software, such as MasterCam, to create and modify schematics and models
Design tooling and gaging fixtures for manufacturing processes
Gather data to proactively identify production bottlenecks, and propose and deploy solutions (design changes, process changes, equipment, automation, etc.)
Document standard work including creation of work instructions, training manuals, and/or technical procedures
Plan and implement the layout of production equipment to provide the maximum utilization of facilities and efficiency of production
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement 5S and lean manufacturing principles
Identify and implement cost savings and safety initiatives.
Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies
Complete other tasks as assigned
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering
3-5 years minimum experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably with CNC machining/chip cutting operations
Knowledge of materials, material science, manufacturing processes and equipment (for ex milling, turning, grinding)
Proficiency in CAD/CAM software, MasterCam preferred
Experience utilizing ERP systems (JobBoss preferred) to create highly effective process routers, BOMs, work instructions, and inspection data collection plans
Familiarity with project scheduling and root cause analysis techniques
Knowledge of and ability to apply 5S and lean manufacturing principles
Knowledge of quality management systems
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office software
Ability to present technical information to vendors, operators, and management
Ability to interface with, stand in for, and coach shop floor personnel
Physical Demands
Employee must be able to walk, stand, climb, lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds, see, hear and use hands to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
Work Environment
Much of the work is performed in a climate-controlled office environment. While performing duties on the manufacturing floor, employee will be exposed to excessive noise and hazards associated with working around moving machinery. Employee may also be exposed to airborne liquid chemicals, fine particulate dust, metal chips and shavings, oils and cutting fluids.
Safety glasses and hearing protection required when on the manufacturing floor.
Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time exempt salaried position with an average workweek of 45 hours.
