Occupational Therapist (Contract)

Reports To: Mimi Le, Clinical Director, The Stewart Center

Position Overview

The Stewart Center is looking for a part-time Occupational Therapist who is passionate about working with children with autism and developmental challenges. The OT will work as part of an interdisciplinary team to provide therapeutic services to students in a structured, supportive environment. The ideal candidate will have experience in providing individual occupational therapy to children with autism.

Responsibilities

• Conduct and write comprehensive evaluations for children between 2

and 15 years old with a primary diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder

• Plan, direct, and implement individual therapy care plans

• Conduct regular assessment of therapy goals and revise care plans, as

needed

• Review individual files to obtain background information regarding

clients prior to beginning therapy or assessment

• Provide regular progress updates to families

• Maintain confidential client records, as required

• Assist in the development of clinical procedures alongside team

• Adhere to basic scope of practice as outlined by Texas Board of

Occupational Therapy Examiners

• Act as a consultant and collaborate with other therapists, classroom

teachers, support specialists, and parents to integrate plans for at

home and classroom programs

• Conduct staff and family training, as needed

• Attend The Westview School staff meetings

• May attend student conferences as part of child’s therapeutic team,

as needed

• Attend monthly Stewart Center meetings related to policy, case

reviews, and budget

Qualifications

• Demonstrate leadership, initiative, innovation, responsiveness to

client needs, teamwork, self-management, and adaptability skills

• Strong oral and written language skills

• Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy

• Current Licensure with the Texas Board of Occupational Therapy

Examiners

• Competency in offering evaluations and assessments

• School-based or pediatric experience a plus

Schedule

• This is a contract position, with flexible hours to accommodate the

needs of the students and the school.

• Families are typically interested in sessions after school (2:00 –

4:30)
