Duties Help * Serves as a technical specialist, planning and implementing information and physical security policies and procedures for the site, ensuring compliance with DoD/DFAS regulations. * Guides managers on annual security risk assessments, reviews investigative reports, develops physical security guidelines, and conducts personnel risk assessment training for management. * Implements and manages the Anti-Terrorism and Force Protection (AT/FP) program, ensuring all site requirements, policies, and procedures are established and maintained. * Conducts announced and unannounced security inspections, develops inspection checklists, recommends corrective actions, and provides security orientation and training to all site employees. * Manages facility security by advising on design and inspecting secured areas. Establishes procedures for the control, handling, and disposition of sensitive and classified materials. Qualifications To be hired at the GS-9 entry grade level, applicants must minimally have: * One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-07) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. Specialized experience for the GS-9 is defined as: * Demonstrated experience in administering a wide range of security programs, policies, and procedures for facilities operations. Experienced in security disciplines, concepts, principles, and practices applicable to physical security, and information security programs To be hired at the GS-11 entry grade level, applicants must minimally have: * One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-09) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. Specialized experience for the GS-11 is defined as: * Demonstrating a broad range of security concepts, principles, and practices in order to assess and resolve difficult security problems for an organization; or utilizing technical expertise related to information or physical security to effectively implement, integrate, and administer applicable security programs in coordination with other specialized security programs. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. In accordance with Department of Defense (DoD) Manual 3305.13-M "DoD Security Accreditation and Certification", this position has been identified as a Defense Security Position (DSP). As such, the individual selected for this position must obtain and/or maintain a Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC). Individuals who do not meet the applicable certification requirements must obtain it within two years after the first duty day in this position. Upon appointment to this position, the selectee must also sign an agreement acknowledging the SFPC requirement as a condition of employment and agree to allow DoD to access and monitor the certification qualifications associated with this DSP. Education GS-9 Substitution of Education for Experience: Two full years of progressively higher level graduate education, Master's or equivalent graduate degree, may be substituted to meet the specialized experience requirement. Equivalent combinations of successfully completed graduate level education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements. GS-11 Substitution of Education for Experience: Three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree may be substituted to meet the specialized experience requirement.
