We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Juniper Network Engineer to support a federal government program in Lorton, VA.
Job Role: Senior Juniper Network Engineer
Location: Lorton, VA (Onsite – 5 days/week)
Duration: 6-Month Contract-to-Hire (CTH)
Clearance: Public Trust (Required prior to start)
Position Description
This role requires a subject matter expert (SME) to provide advanced network engineering, operations, and maintenance (O&M) support for mission-critical systems supporting global field communications.
The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in Juniper networking technologies, strong troubleshooting capabilities, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Serve as the primary Subject Matter Expert (SME) for network infrastructure and related systems
• Provide operations and maintenance (O&M) support for mission-critical network environments
• Design, configure, and manage:
o Juniper SRX-series routers and security devices
o Juniper EX-series switches
o Cisco Firepower ASA and Secure Firewalls
• Implement and maintain:
o VPN solutions (AnyConnect, AutoVPN)
o Network Time Protocol (NTP) services
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
(or equivalent experience)
• 10–12+ years of relevant network engineering experience
• Strong expertise in:
o Juniper SRX-series routers
o Juniper EX-series switches
o Cisco Firepower ASA firewalls
• Experience supporting complex, mission-critical systems
• Proven ability to:
o Design, implement, and troubleshoot network infrastructure
o Work independently with minimal supervision
o Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Experience with:
o VPN technologies (AnyConnect, AutoVPN)
o Network circuits (Ethernet, TDMA, Private IP)
o Network Time Protocol (NTP)
o Configuration management processes
• Eligibility to obtain a Public Trust clearance
Preferred Qualifications
• Juniper certifications (JNCIP-SEC, JNCIE-SEC)
• Experience with federal government environments
• Business analysis and requirements gathering experience
• Technical writing and documentation skills
