DEFINITION:
The Associate Principal for Strategic Initiatives supports the Principal in overseeing the school's instructional program by ensuring effective implementation of schoolwide instructional priorities. This role focuses on monitoring fidelity of curriculum implementation, tracking student progress, and achievement data. The AP collaborates with department leads, teachers, and instructional leadership to foster a high-quality, student-centered learning environment while providing the Principal with actionable insights into strengths, gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
MAJOR POLICY RESPONSIBILITY:
The Associate Principal for Strategic Initiatives is responsible for the implementation of all Board of Education policies and administrative procedures as they relate to key functions. The Associate Principal may make recommendations for policy revisions, deletions, or additions to the Principal.
KEY FUNCTIONS:
A. Student Enrollment and Registration
Authority/Responsibility - Supervise and evaluate programs and personnel in the operation of student registration and enrollment.
Representative Activities:
Plans and coordinates back-to-school Book and Fee Week processes.
Plans and coordinates returning student registration.
Facilitates incoming 9th-grade registration process.
Facilitates enrollment of new student registration.
Serves as liaison with the Office of the Registrar and provides necessary supervision to ensure compliance with student records laws.
Coordinates and facilitates student transfers to and from external placements for general education students.
Coordinates transportation for outplaced students.
Completes ISBE data submissions related to registration, graduation, and other reporting requirements.
Supervises student health record compliance processes.
Coordinates and facilitates enrollment process for McKinney-Vento students.
Provides required services for McKinney-Vento students.
Responsible for McKinney-Vento legal compliance and necessary procedures.
B. Residency
Authority/Responsibility - Supervise the residency monitoring program.
Representative Activities:
Develops and implements procedures for student residency.
Supervises the Registrar in identifying accurate residency documentation.
Assigns cases to residency investigators and supervises progress of cases.
Maintains accurate records on students that violate residency policy.
Works with the Attorney, Principal, and Superintendent to identify students who are not legal residents of the school district and initiates necessary action to remove such students from the school attendance roster.
Makes annual case status reports to the Principal and Superintendent.
Represents the District during residency hearings and other proceedings.
Articulates with feeder districts in matters regarding residency.
Manages CLEAR software and ensures compliance with procedures.
C. Student Services
Authority/Responsibility - Supervise and monitor as assigned by the Principal.
Representative Activities:
Coordinates and supervises the after-school Library program.
Acts as the appeals office for parents on disciplinary issues, following the sequence: Deans Office - Associate Principal - Principal.
Supervises and evaluates the Health Services Offices.
D. School Improvement
Authority/Responsibility - Support and monitor instructional programs and initiatives as assigned by the Principal.
Representative Activities:
Observes classrooms and provides actionable feedback to teachers.
Follows up on implementation of schoolwide instructional initiatives.
Analyzes classroom and student-level data, including interventions and achievement, to inform instructional oversight.
Supervises and evaluates assigned teachers in partnership with the Principal.
Supports the Principal in addressing instructional concerns, improvement plans, and staff development goals.
Uses student performance and intervention data to guide supervision and decision-making.
Monitors interventions for academically and behaviorally at-risk students.
Supports the Principal in implementing the school improvement plan by ensuring instructional expectations are carried out across departments.
Assists the Principal in planning and executing schoolwide student recognition and incentive activities.
Provides guidance on data-informed interventions for teacher leaders.
E. Special Projects
Authority/Responsibility - Supervise and monitor as assigned by the Principal.
Representative Activities:
Oversees the management of vehicles used for residency and security purposes.
Supervises and evaluates the Textbook Center Coordinator and distribution processes.
Serves as the District DCFS Liaison.
Manages and supervises other strategic initiatives and special projects as assigned by the Principal.

START DATE: July 1, 2026
WORK CALENDAR: 12-month, 260-day position
SALARY: $140,000 - $150,000 / year

REQUIREMENTS: Current Illinois Professional Educator License with
Administrative Endorsement.
5 years of teaching experience is preferred.
Previous experience in a leadership position is preferred.
