Job Title: Machinist A

Reports to: Manufacturing Manager

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

Department: Tooling Shop

Summary: Set up and maintain machinery and other tool machines in machining department.

Job Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Set up/operate/program CNC machines at 100% accuracy.

2. Any method changes/improvements are promptly reported to supervisor.

3. Effectively maintains set up during production run.

4. Operates and hold CNC machines to exact tolerances when required.

5. Competently works from prints, sketches, and verbal instructions following written procedures.

6. Utilizes gauges and measuring instruments competently and effectively.

7. Consistently meets production goals and schedules with high quality standards.

8. CNC machines are kept clean and in good mechanical condition.

9. Effectively maintains good housekeeping and safety standards.

10. Make a part to blue print specifications and present to supervisor or trainer for first piece inspection.

11. Inspects work at regular intervals to ensure good quality of all parts.

12. Ensures good quality parts in keeping with maximum quality requirements.

13. All final inspection done by someone other than oneself.

14. Becomes knowledgeable on methods and operations in other assigned areas.

15. Assist supervisor in training other operators on machines when assigned.

16. Performs special assignments and work in other plant areas as required to meet company goals and schedules.

17. Effectively work and contributes in a team environment in meeting company goals and schedules.

Skills:

Proficient in CNC program code knowledge.

Ability to read blue prints, work to close tolerance and use vernier measuring instruments and gauges.

Ability to program, set up and operate CNC equipment.

Ability to communicate and work well in a team environment.

Math aptitude

Reasoning ability

Problem solving ability

Knowledgeable in complex component assembly

Knowledgeable in setting proper bearing pre-load

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent trades training.

Two (2) to three (3) years’ experience on CNC machine tools.

Experience on track mills.

Experience on Bridgeport EZ path lathe
