As a PLC Water Industry SCADA Field Engineer on this team your responsibilities will include:

• Design, program, repair and maintain PLC systems for the Water/Wastewater industries.

• Basic knowledge or experience involving water distribution, water and wastewater plant processes and systems and the interactions of these processes is helpful, as well as familiarity with instrumentation used in these industries to measure and control variables such as pressure, flow, temperature, level and chemical composition. Familiarity with industry standard instrumentation tag and symbol conventions (such as ISA).

• Design, program, and test process control strategies and logic in PLC programs using PLC program development tools. Familiarity with programming in IEC 61131-3 language and ControlWave Series of Controllers or similar would be beneficial.

• Strong problem solving skills; the ability to resolve technical and commercial issues relevant to the job. Provide expert knowledge and experience in estimating the technical effort required to implement complex HMI/SCADA solutions.

• Assist in-house engineers, outside consultants, operators, or owners in the review of SCADA System requirements, modifications, or upgrades. Provide recommendations as needed to optimize plant controls for improved Operations.

• Communication Skills: The candidate will be required to communicate with the Customers/ Engineers. The ideal candidate to have excellent written and verbal communication skills and have proficiency in the English language.

• Install and configure software applications for related systems like DCS, SCADA, and HMI such as OpenEnterprise, iFIX, and Iconics. Experience with external paging and alarming packages such as Win-911, or data logging and report packages would be very beneficial.

• Computer OS knowledge (e.g., Microsoft Windows, etc.) is beneficial, along with SQL databases, web services, visual basic, and OPC.

• Basic networking knowledge (e.g., Ethernet, switches, routers, fiber, Wi-Fi, etc.) as well as networking skills in serial communications (e.g., RS-232, RS-485) is beneficial. Familiarity with related communication protocols such as MODBUS, DNP, BSAP, etc. is a plus.

• Maintain backups, documentation, and software revisions as part of maintaining these computer-based control systems.

• Establish a rapport with customers and be prepared to accept phone calls for service or questions. Phone calls should normally occur during working hours, but it is possible there could occasional calls outside regular working hours or on weekends if the end user is having an emergency. Also some customers site may have to be accessed over remote dial in support. All customer sites are critical and running live operations. So downtime mitigation is very critical.

• Support Maintenance Contracts Scope requirements. Coordinate and schedule preventative and corrective maintenance visits with customers. Troubleshoot and resolve customer demand service calls. The nature and number of visits will be dependent on the respective maintenance contracts the customers have with the company.

• Conduct factory acceptance tests of SCADA/automation systems to ensure compliance with system specification requirements prior to delivery.

• Perform PLC and/or SCADA system startup activities at customer sites. May involve installation, troubleshooting and service of PLC or communication equipment (e.g., modems or radios, Ethernet Switches etc). Diagnose faults and coordinate repair of components as is pertinent or appropriate. Coordinate with end user personnel and/or contractors that perform related activities.

• Ability to create, review and understand technical documentation, drawings, schematics and manuals. Basic AutoCAD knowledge and experience is helpful. Contribute to the definition of HMI/SCADA solution architectures and development of detailed design submittals. Contribute to the design and layout of electrical control panels, RTU enclosures, and wiring marshalling systems.

• Must use hand, power, and electronic tools, test equipment, and material handling equipment.

• Must be willing to travel to customer sites as needed. Many visits will be local and involve day trips by auto. However, some trips may involve air travel away from home requiring overnight stays. When it occurs, overnight travel is typically no more than five days per trip. A willingness to be flexible with travel is a plus.

• While not engaged in Field Service the Candidate will be implementing Project Assignments

Education Requirements for all our PLC Water Industry Field Engineers:

• BS in Electrical, Computer or comparable engineering discipline from an accredited university or college.

• Applicants with PLC technician certificate and/or related associate degree may be considered when exhibits strength of experience compatible to job responsibilities.

Salary and Benefits attached to our PLC Water Industry Field Engineering roles:

1. Base salary $70 – 90K.

A minimum of 3 to 5+ years of experience in a similar position is required.
