Acuity, Inc. seeks a Systems Engineer to design, implement, and support a cloud-based data and analytics environment for a federal client. This role is responsible for platform reliability, scalability, security, and performance across AWS, Databricks, and PostgreSQL. The Systems Engineer supports integration, troubleshooting, optimization, and controlled deployment across development, test, and production environments.

Responsibilities
Design, implement, and support platform components across AWS, Databricks, and PostgreSQL
Administer PostgreSQL, including configuration, backup and recovery, patching, replication, and performance tuning
Support Databricks operations, including workspace configuration, job reliability, access controls, and platform troubleshooting
Manage AWS services supporting compute, storage, networking, security, and monitoring
Troubleshoot infrastructure, platform, and database issues across environments
Support deployments, configuration changes, and environment promotion activities
Build and maintain automation, scripting, and CI/CD processes for repeatable delivery
Monitor system health, job performance, and database behavior; resolve operational issues
Maintain backup, recovery, failover, and disaster recovery procedures
Support data loads, extracts, and cross-environment data movement
Maintain technical documentation for configuration, operations, and recovery procedures
Apply security controls, patching, access management, and vulnerability remediation
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
5+ years of experience supporting complex cloud or platform environments
Strong hands-on experience with AWS services and cloud infrastructure
Strong PostgreSQL administration experience, including tuning, backup and recovery, and availability support
Experience supporting Databricks or a comparable cloud data platform in production
Experience with system integration, troubleshooting, and performance optimization
Experience supporting controlled releases across development, test, and production
Experience with scripting, automation, and CI/CD pipelines
Strong understanding of platform security, patching, and access control
Ability to diagnose and resolve infrastructure, platform, and database issues
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Terraform or other infrastructure-as-code tools
Experience with monitoring and observability tools
Experience supporting ETL, ELT, or data movement workflows
Experience with PostgreSQL replication and failover
Experience with Linux administration and cloud networking
Experience with Git-based delivery workflows
Familiarity with governance and access controls in cloud analytics platforms
Clearance Requirement
Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain U.S. suitability
