Rebar Detailing and Estimating Manager
Job Post Summary
The Rebar Detailing and Estimating Manager is responsible for leading estimating, detailing, and project coordination functions within the rebar division. This role ensures accurate material takeoffs, competitive bidding, and precise fabrication drawings while driving efficiency and collaboration across teams. The position plays a key role in maintaining project flow, ensuring quality, and supporting successful execution from bid through fabrication.
Job Roles and Responsibilities
Estimating and Bidding
Review construction plans, specifications, and addenda to prepare accurate estimates and material takeoffs
Develop competitive and profitable bids aligned with company pricing strategies
Collaborate with sales teams to support bid strategy and client relationships
Identify scope gaps, risks, and value engineering opportunities
Track bid outcomes and improve estimating accuracy
Detailing and Project Management
Oversee rebar detailing including shop drawings, placing drawings, bar lists, and cut sheets
Ensure drawings meet project specifications, codes, and requirements
Manage submittals, RFIs, and revisions throughout the project lifecycle
Coordinate with production, scheduling, and logistics teams
Ensure timely release of detailed jobs for fabrication and delivery
Team Leadership
Lead, train, and develop team members
Establish clear workflows, expectations, and accountability standards
Improve efficiency through process and system enhancements
Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching
Operational Alignment
Collaborate with operations teams including production, scheduling, and purchasing
Maintain communication between sales, detailing, and fabrication
Support backlog management, job prioritization, and workflow planning
Quality and Accuracy
Ensure accuracy in estimates, drawings, and material lists
Minimize errors, rework, and jobsite issues
Implement quality control measures and standard procedures
Qualifications and Certifications
Minimum 5 years of experience in rebar estimating, detailing, or a related construction field
Strong knowledge of rebar detailing, takeoffs, and fabrication processes
Experience with industry-standard rebar detailing and estimating software
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
Proven leadership and team management experience
Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
