This role will work a hybrid schedule coming into the Columbus, Ohio office 2 days per week on Tuesdays & Thursdays.

We are looking for a Digital Product Owner to support DevXP products. This role will help translate problems and opportunities from engineering teams into clear, actionable work for delivery teams, with a focus on improving software engineer productivity, satisfaction, and platform adoption.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about developer tooling, platform thinking, and incremental delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Backlog management & refinement

Maintain, refine, and prioritize backlogs for DevXP products aligned to products including GitHub, Artifactory, Software Engineering Environments, and LaunchDarkly.

Break high-level outcomes into clear epics and well formed user stories with acceptance criteria.

Participate in product planning meetings for the assets.

Discovery & stakeholder collaboration

Partner with engineering leaders, Tech Leads, SREs, and security/platform partners to understand problems, pain points, and desired outcomes.

Direct outreach campaigns to developers and SEPMs for targeted product opportunities, surveys, and interviews.

Participate in and occasionally facilitate discovery sessions, workshops, and office hours to gather input and validate direction.

Delivery support

Work with agile teams to ensure stories are clear, sized, and ready for sprint planning.

Clarify requirements, answer questions, and remove day to day blockers with guidance from senior product and architecture partners.

Measurement & feedback

Use Developer Experience (DX) metrics, adoption data, and qualitative feedback to refine priorities and demonstrate value.

Partner with data teams to plan and facilitate ingestion of data to show product adoption, ROI, and friction reduction.

Communication

Draft press releases, announcements, SharePoint sites, newsletters, and visuals that explain what changed, why it matters, and how engineers can get started.

Plan and facilitate training sessions for technical and non-technical audiences.

Required Qualifications

1–3 years of experience in product, business analysis, project, or delivery roles in a technology environment.

Deep understanding of modern software delivery (Agile, CI/CD, Git, Cloud) and particular willingness to grow in developer experience and platform concepts.

Demonstrated ability to:

Write clear user stories and acceptance criteria.

Facilitate or actively participate in backlog refinement and sprint ceremonies.

Work with multiple stakeholders and balance competing priorities.

Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable tailoring messages to engineers and non technical partners.

Curiosity and growth mindset: eager to learn from data and feedback.

Knowledge

Experience working with or around:

Internal developer platforms or golden paths (e.g., templates, pipelines, shared services).

Developer tooling (GitHub, CI/CD tools, artifact repositories, feature flags, observability tooling).

Knowledge and exposure to platform or infrastructure product teams.

Familiarity with experience/feedback tooling (e.g., surveys, telemetry dashboards) and using data to inform prioritization.

Success in the First 12 Months

Maintain a healthy, prioritized backlog for assigned products with clear alignment to DevXP and enterprise outcomes.

Drive one major product increment from ideation to adoption.

Demonstrate increasing independence in day to day product decisions while escalating appropriately on higher risk items.

Responsible for applying secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle to ensure our data and technology solutions are protected from threats and vulnerabilities.

Mentors and trains other team members on design techniques, tools and coding standards.

Provides strategic advice on using technology to achieve goals.

Drives cross-collaboration and execution of projects across multiple teams.

Analyzes, solutions, develops, tests, debugs, documents and deploys software according to standards and optimal practices.

Champions the use of DevSecOps practices, tooling and techniques.

Ensures continuous learning and improvement through ongoing training, practice and innovation.

Manages individual project priorities, deadlines and deliverables.

May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Reporting Relationships: Reports to a Technology Manager/Director.

Typical Skills and Experiences:

Education: Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, mathematics or related field is strongly preferred.

Experience: Six years of experience in programming and systems analysis. Three years of experience in project management is preferred.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Hands-on technical leadership experience leading project teams and setting technical direction. Proficiency in one programming language such as Java, C++, Python, JavaScript. Knowledge of software development lifecycle. Proven ability to tackle sophisticated business and development problems. Ability to thrive in a team environment. Insurance/financial services industry knowledge a plus.

Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.

Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring manager’s leader and Human Resources Business Partner.

The national salary range for Consultant, Software Engineer : $118,000.00-$222,000.00

The expected starting salary range for Consultant, Software Engineer : $118,000.00 - $178,000.00
