Job Overview & Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Microsoft O365 Security Engineer & Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support enterprise cybersecurity operations within a government environment. This role focuses on designing, implementing, and managing advanced Microsoft 365 (M365) security solutions across hybrid, on-premises, and cloud infrastructures.

The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in Microsoft security technologies, including Microsoft Defender, Purview, Entra ID, Intune, and Sentinel, and will play a critical role in strengthening the organization's security posture. This position requires strong leadership, hands-on technical capabilities, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure secure and compliant M365 deployments.

Required Qualifications & Certifications

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field

• Minimum 10+ years of experience in Microsoft 365 security, cybersecurity engineering, or related domain

• Proven experience in leading and implementing enterprise-level M365 security solutions

Technical Skills:

• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 security architecture and tools:

o Microsoft Defender (Endpoint, Email Security)

o Microsoft Purview (DLP, Compliance, eDiscovery)

o Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD)

o Microsoft Intune (Device & Policy Management)

o Microsoft Sentinel

o SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams security

• Experience with hybrid and cloud environments (Azure & AWS)

• Expertise in identity and access management (IAM) and Zero Trust principles

• Knowledge of compliance frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, SOC 2

• Experience in threat detection, incident response, vulnerability management, and risk assessment

• Proficiency in PowerShell scripting and automation

• Strong documentation skills for technical artifacts and reporting

Certifications (Preferred/Required):

• Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert (MS-102)

• Microsoft 365 Certified: Fundamentals (MS-900)

• Additional Microsoft Security certifications (preferred)

Other Requirements:

• Ability to obtain Public Trust (PT) clearance (active clearance preferred)

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment

• Experience presenting to technical and non-technical stakeholders
