Job Description
The National Association of Home Builders’ Summer Internship Program offers a structured, hands-on experience designed to provide meaningful exposure to the housing industry and the policy environment that shapes it. Located in the National Housing Center and based in Washington, D.C., the summer program places interns alongside experienced professionals, where they contribute to real-time initiatives, develop practical skills, and gain insight into the work of a national trade association.
As part of the Business Development team, the Business Development Intern will support NAHB’s Member Savings Program, a key benefit of NAHB membership that delivers added value to members nationwide. This role provides direct exposure to member engagement, program management, partner relations, and cross-departmental collaboration and is ideal for a student interested in business, marketing, communications, association management, or a related field.
What You’ll Do
Review participation data from local and state home builder associations to identify trends, engagement levels, and opportunities for program growth
Assist in developing marketing materials and communications for association leaders to help promote the Member Savings Program
Respond to member inquiries by email and phone, providing timely and professional support
Conduct research on market trends, member needs, and potential partnership opportunities that can expand the program’s reach and impact
Support relationship management efforts with program partners, members, and internal stakeholders
Collaborate with internal teams to support strategic initiatives related to member engagement and program visibility
Provide administrative and project support to help advance the goals of the Member Savings Program

Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage professionally with members, partners, and internal stakeholders

Ability to analyze data, market trends, and member needs to support informed recommendations
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Organized and able to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, and familiarity with Adobe Pro
