Job Purpose
Responsible for the successful and timely execution of product development projects.
Duties and Responsibilities
Coordinate activities among all the elements necessary to plan, design, develop, and produce new products from project initiation to sustained production.
Lead cross functional project teams ensuring the product development process is followed and required tasks are completed to schedule.
Participate in process improvement activities using lean manufacturing principles and tools.
Interact with supply chain management, operations, manufacturing engineering, quality, and suppliers.
Participate in vendor selection, qualification, DFM, and process approval.
Lead cost estimates and track product cost throughout the development cycle.
Ensure production preparation tasks are identified and completed.
Follow progress of process/part pre-production approval and assist in resolution of issues.
Monitor pilot production and process qualification.
Coordinate schedules for prototyping, pilot production, and serial production.
Communicate project progress to management. Identify issues and propose mitigation steps.
Manage project risks and mitigation activities.
Interact with Sales and Marketing to clarify customer needs and to provide technical data and sample product.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field.
Experience in new product launch with a development, management, or manufacturing responsibility.
Thorough understanding of the fundamentals of manufacturing, sourcing, quality systems, and project management.
Knowledge of a wide variety of manufacturing processes such as forging, stamping, casting, polymer injection molding, machining, metal injection molding, and heat treatment.
Ability to manage a cross functional team to meet program deadlines.
Working Conditions
Office environment onsite within a manufacturing facility.
Phisical Requirements
Must be able to move, lift, transport items at minimum of 20 lbs.
Must be able to consistently operate a computer/office productivity machinery i.e., calculator, copy machine, printer for a minimum of 6 hours per day.
Must be able to remain stationary for a minimum of 2 hours per day.
Must be able to detect and correct errors on paper/screens.
Must be able to communicate and exchange information with other members of the organization verbally, nonverbally, and in writing.
Must be able to move throughout the facility and office area to access file cabinets, office equipment, plant machinery, and other office areas as needed.
