Job Title: Literacy Instruction and Data Coordinator (Grades 4-8) Reports to: Assistant Superintendent Department: Curriculum and Instruction Term: 194 days (184 school days + 10 additional days) FLSA Status: Exempt, Administrator Unit Salary Range: Administrator Salary Scale Qualifications: * Education: Master's Degree in Reading or a related discipline required.

* Licensure: DESE reading specialist/teacher, Supervisor/Director, and SEI (Sheltered English Immersion) Endorsement licenses required.

* Experience: Minimum of five (5) years successful classroom instruction.

* Expertise: Deep knowledge of ELA/Literacy Curriculum Frameworks, Science of Reading, and research-based literacy instruction.

Experience with the Data Wise Improvement Process or similar collaborative inquiry models is highly desirable.

* Skills: Proven expertise in instructional coaching and data analysis.

Proficiency in basic software and data analysis warehouse platforms is required.

Additional Requirements: * Appointments are contingent upon satisfactory CORI, SORI, and SAFIS background checks per 603 CMR 51.00.

* Local travel between District school sites is required.

Job Summary: The Literacy Instruction and Data Coordinator is a strategic leadership role designed to build instructional capacity and ensure a seamless transition between elementary foundational skills and the rigorous disciplinary literacy of middle school.

This role combines high-level data analysis, instructional coaching, and formal educator evaluation and feedback to ensure equitable access to high-quality literacy instruction for all learners within a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS). CENTRAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB (MAY INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO): * Curriculum & Instruction: Ensure curriculum alignment by coordinating literacy curriculum, instruction, and assessment expectations through explicit documentation and regular meetings with grade-level teams and building administrators.

Model research-based instructional practices and provide content knowledge on core programs, including teaching strategies and interpretation of assessment results.

Facilitate regular meetings with grade-level teams and administrators, and maintain district curriculum maps and pacing guides.

* Data Literacy Leadership: Provide strategic leadership of literacy programs across Mill Pond and Gibbons Middle Schools, with a focus upon tiers I and II.

Utilize specialized data tools to scaffold key instructional practices and literacy skills, guiding staff in the critical analysis of data-based claims.

Works productively across departments to build teacher capacity.

* Equity & Inclusion: Collaborate with teachers and principals to ensure instruction reflects best practices for inclusion.

Actively apply an equity lens throughout the data cycle to build equitable schools and support the adaptive challenge of ensuring complex academic content remains rigorous for every learner.

Partner with the EL and Special Education departments to integrate language supports and specialized instructional strategies, ensuring complex academic content remains accessible and rigorous for every learner in Westborough Public Schools.

* Supervision & Evaluation: Formally supervise and evaluate Reading Specialists and assist in the evaluation of ELA teachers in collaboration with building administrators through regular classroom visits and coaching.

This includes classroom visits, teacher coaching, and supporting principals in providing effective feedback during subject-specific observations.

* Tiered Coherence & Intervention: Lead teams of educators through cycles of inquiry to analyze program effectiveness using student data and teacher feedback.

Disaggregate benchmark data, create informative visualizations (graphic representations) to make data actionable, and maintain a digital data warehouse to foster a transparent culture of data use, specifically focusing on Teacher Support Teams (TST) and analysis of tier I and II intervention data and progress monitoring.

* Professional Development: Plan and deliver site-based and district-wide professional development focused on using formative assessments to enhance student learning.

Train staff to increase their collaborative data capacity to identify specific instructional needs based on student achievement and growth.

Salary and Benefits: Salary and benefits are commensurate with experience and per the contract between the Westborough School Committee and the Westborough Administrator Unit.

Supervisory Responsibilities: The Data and Literacy Coordinator is the primary evaluator of reading specialists and is a contributing evaluator for other faculty and staff, as directed.
