Job Description:

What’s the role

As an Associate Engineer – Digital & Drawing Management, you will support Shell’s Downstream Operating Units by updating and maintaining 2D and 3D engineering drawings. The role focuses on incorporating redline markups and Management of Change (MOC) updates using AutoCAD and MicroStation.

This is a drafting-centric position rather than a design engineering role—while technical knowledge is helpful, the work primarily involves drawing updates, accuracy, and version control, not detailed design or engineering calculations.

What you’ll be doing

Interpret and apply redline markups and Management of Change (MOC) updates to existing electrical and instrumentation drawings.

Maintain strict drawing version control, ensuring all updates are accurately reflected within drawing management systems.

Work primarily with AutoCAD and MicroStation, with occasional use of SPI/SPEL as required.

Read, understand, and update various drawing types, including P&IDs, SLDs, cable schedules, grounding layouts, and panel drawings.

Ensure all drawings comply with Shell and applicable industry standards for quality and documentation.

Collaborate virtually with global stakeholders to clarify updates and deliver work within agreed timelines.

Support drawing audits and quality assurance checks as needed.

What you bring

Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related discipline, with professional experience in electrical drawing and CAD drafting.

Hands-on experience interpreting and updating electrical drawings such as P&IDs, electrical equipment schedules, and 2D/3D layouts using AutoCAD and MicroStation; familiarity with SPI/SPEL is an advantage.

Solid understanding of electrical design principles, with the ability to interpret engineering inputs for accurate drafting.

Strong proficiency in 2D drafting using AutoCAD and MicroStation is essential; experience with 3D tools is a value-add but not mandatory.

Basic proficiency in standard PC applications (e.g., MS Office, email, internet tools).

Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal.

Experience in the Oil & Gas, Power, or related industries is highly preferred

Effective communicator, quick learner, and strong team player.

Ability to prioritize tasks and consistently deliver on commitments within the area of responsibility.

Flexible and adaptable, with demonstrated initiative, analytical thinking, and problem-solving capabilities.

Self-starter with a strong sense of ownership and reliability.

Willingness to support shift-based work aligned with global Downstream operating hours.

Operates in a virtual, global environment, collaborating with stakeholders across diverse cultures, organizational levels, and time zones.

Proactively identifies and supports the resolution of business and technical issues within scope.

The role primarily involves remote support to Downstream Operating Units for drawing management and updates.
