Agency Info Security Professional 1 Position Overview:

OOD is looking for an Agency Information Security Professional 1 to support our mission of empowering Ohioans with disabilities through employment and independence. In this role, you’ll help monitor and manage OOD’s enterprise security tools to protect against cyber threats. You’ll work with tools like CrowdStrike and Qualys to detect and respond to suspicious activity, review security logs, and help resolve incidents quickly and professionally. You’ll also consult with the Office of Information Security and Privacy to ensure our systems meet state and federal security standards.
Your work will include testing security safeguards, participating in vulnerability scans, and helping implement solutions to reduce risks. You’ll assist with business continuity and disaster recovery planning, and help maintain secure network and server environments. This position also involves documenting your work and supporting compliance with IT standards and change management processes.
To succeed in this role, you should have a strong understanding of cybersecurity concepts and tools, be comfortable using Microsoft Office and other software, and be able to think critically and communicate clearly. The Division of Information Technology (IT) supports OOD's mission by engaging with our partners to provide solutions that solve business needs. Our services include strategic planning, project management, business requirements gathering, development, quality assurance testing, help desk support, security, database design and implementation, systems support and operations.
Pay Information
Starting salary will be step 1, subject to law or union contract requirements. New hires advance to the next step in the range after 6 months and annually thereafter. There are cost of living increases to these rates each year and additional longevity supplements begin after 5 years. The current wage progression for this position is in the table below.

Location Requirements
Our roles are primarily in-office to encourage collaboration and connection, however some locations may have adjusted on-site requirements based on space availability at this time. Reporting details will be provided by the supervisor before the start date. Employees must reside at a location that allows for reasonable response time to workplace reporting requirements.
Daytime travel within Ohio may be required. The selected candidate must provide own transportation or, in order to operate a state vehicle, must have a valid driver’s license.

The final candidate selected for the position will be required to undergo a criminal background check. Criminal convictions do not necessarily preclude an applicant from consideration for a position. Individuals selected for positions with Ohio's Disability Determination Service (DDS) will go through a complete federal background investigation. A suitability determination by the Social Security Administration is necessary to determine whether an employee can be issued credentials in order to have access to Social Security disability data, records, and systems. 36 months experience in computer data security either through monitoring system/network traffic for anomalous activity, systems development or controlling accessibility of data.
-Or completion of associate core program in computer science AND 18 months training or 18 months experience in computer data security either through monitoring system/network traffic for anomalous activity, systems development or controlling accessibility of data.
-Or completion of undergraduate core program in computer science AND 12 months training or 12 months experience in computer data security either through monitoring system/network traffic for anomalous activity, systems development or controlling accessibility of data.
-Or 12 months experience as Information Technology Apprentice, 69910 AND successful completion of Ohio Cyber Apprenticeship program AND additional 12 months training or experience in Information Systems/Information Technology with a focus in one of the following areas: Software Engineering/Development, Data Analytics/Business Intelligence, Database Administration, Network, or IT Security.
-Or equivalent of education and/or experience per Minimum Class Qualifications noted above.
Note: The Ohio Cyber Apprenticeship program is a program offered by the Department Administrative Services. 2000 hrs. of on-the-job experience and 200 certified instructional credits must be earned in order to complete this program.
