Job Description Executive Director - Behavioral Health (Build & Scale Role) Columbus, Ohio Full-Time On-Site Leadership Read This Before Applying This role is for someone who has built, grown, or turned around a program — and wants to do it again.
If you're looking for a role where you: * Maintain operations * Avoid pressure * Focus more on meetings than results This is not the role for you.
We are building a serious outpatient behavioral health organization (SUD + Mental Health). We need a leader who wants to own growth, drive performance, and build something meaningful.
What You're Actually Signing Up For You are not coming in to "oversee." You are coming in to: * Drive admissions and census growth * Build a team that performs — not just shows up * Fix broken systems (intake, no-shows, workflows) * Create real referral pipelines (not passive relationships) * Own operations, accountability, and results * Take the organization from where it is where it should be This is a hands-on leadership role . You will be in the business — not watching it from a distance.
What Success Looks Like Within the first 3-6 months: * Admissions become consistent and trackable * Referral sources are active and producing * Staff are accountable and aligned * Operations are tighter, faster, and more effective * The program is growing — not hoping to grow You should be able to point to results and say: "I built that." What You'll Own * Full operational leadership (clinical + admin + growth) * Census growth across PHP / IOP / OP services * Team building, leadership, and accountability * Referral development (hospitals, detox, community partners) * Compliance (Medicaid, CARF, etc.) — without slowing growth * Budget, performance metrics, and overall P&L direction Who This Is For (A-Player Profile) * You have personally driven growth in a behavioral health or healthcare setting * You understand both: * Clinical operations * Business / revenue side * You are comfortable being measured on numbers and outcomes * You move fast, solve problems, and take ownership * You can lead people — and hold them accountable when needed Who This Is NOT For * You've only maintained programs (never grown one) * You avoid accountability or performance metrics * You need constant direction * You're not comfortable being responsible for results Requirements (What Actually Matters) * 5+ years leadership in behavioral health / SUD / healthcare * Strong understanding of Medicaid, managed care, and outpatient operations * Proven track record of growth, turnaround, or scale * Ability to lead teams and drive performance (Clinical license is a plus — not a substitute for operational ability) Compensation * Competitive base salary * Performance-based bonuses tied directly to growth and results * Significant upside for the right operator Location Columbus, Ohio (on-site leadership required) How to Apply (Important) Do not send a generic application.
Send: * Your resume * A short response to this question: "What have you personally grown or turned around?
Include actual numbers." Applications without this will not be considered.
