Under the direction and supervision of the Site Director, the counselor is expected to supervise, manage and interact with the children registered in the afterschool program.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Assist in planning and implementing the daily program under the direction of the Site Director.
Supervise and interact with a specific group of children while maintaining a professional attitude and loyalty to the YMCA.
To plan, implement and participate in all scheduled activities including, but not limited to, weekly lesson plans, sports, games, crafts, etc.
Be responsible for the safety of program participants at all times.
Establish and maintain positive relationships with parents, program participants and other staff.
Assist with general site maintenance.
Attend all mandatory staff meetings and training programs.
To complete all required documentation for the program.
Responsible for maintenance and care of equipment and supplies.
To help with housekeeping tasks as necessary.
Arrive at the site and be ready to work by the scheduled work time.
May substitute at a program site and perform any other added responsibilities as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be at least 17 years old, undergoing professional preparation to be a leader of young children or having experience with elementary age children. Must be willing to fulfill the counselor's responsibilities in accordance with the YMCA's philosophy and goals.
Required Certifications and Trainings:
CPR, First Aid and AED or within 30 days of hire
Child Abuse Prevention, Bloodborne Pathogens within 30 days of hire Benefits Include:
