Scope of Position
The Scheduling Coordinator functions as an integral part of the OSUWMC commitment to improve access and service to our patients/customers by emanating a culture of cooperation, enthusiasm and respect. This position requires the specialist to maintain a high level of professionalism, excellent communication skills (written and verbal) for a diverse range of people. The Specialist is responsible for answering the telephone calls in a pleasant, professional and articulate phone voice, scheduling new patient appointments, monitoring clinical schedules (wait/bump lists) to ensure full clinics, and maintain department clerical duties.
Position Summary
The Scheduling Coordinator is integral to shaping the patients’ first impression. They will maintain a pleasant, professional and articulate tone of voice when interacting with the patients/customers for OSUWMC. They will be responsible for answering the telephone calls and directing/assisting the callers/patients as appropriate, scheduling new patient appointments, monitoring schedules, wait/bump lists and back filling as necessary to maintain full clinics. The specialist will also be responsible for timekeeping editing, benefits verification, scanning appropriate paperwork into Document Imaging System, and focusing on accurate data collection. The Specialist will have a strong working knowledge of the different health insurance plans to ensure reimbursement of services provided. The Specialist must be able to multi task and work in a fast paced environment.
Minimum Qualifications
For Hire:
Per CCS requirements
3-4 years’ experience working in a clinical practice preferred.
Background in registration, customer service and insurance verification preferred.
Knowledge of registration/billing practices.
