Join the Hancock Team as a Truss Designer at Mainely Trusses!
We're looking for a detail-oriented, creative problem-solver to generate precise truss drawings, develop engineered solutions, and collaborate closely with customers, architects, and our internal teams. This role is based at our Mainely Truss location in Fairfield, Maine. Starting pay begins at $27.00 per hour, with final compensation based on experience.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work closely with the necessary parties to get drawings and estimates completed.
Receive sales calls and plans, provide excellent customer service and prepare quotes and layouts.
Perform drawings in accordance with project specifications.
Review drawings and specifications for constructability issues prior to performing the designs and resolve them.
Process and optimize orders in anticipation of sending for sealed truss drawings.
Prepare and send trusses for engineered solutions.
Maintain the estimating computer equipment, software and data base in a current state so that all codes function properly and generate reports that can be accurately priced.
Perform beam and engineered product analysis to the extent possible.
Coordinate complex projects with an engineer and the appropriate vendor.
Be available to do field verification of projects if warranted.
Consult with the contractor / builder to resolve any schedule, material or building code issues.

Requirements
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
5 years' experience in building design or construction.
Experience with Windows, Mitek design and other relevant software.
Knowledge of computer software and drafting/design programs.
The ability to visualize projects from 2d drawings and to do 3d sketches.
Communicate well with customers and fellow employees.
Must be able to work independently.
DESIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or equivalent require. College or Technical school preferred.
Driver's license required.
Insurability for driving.
REPETITIVE PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Lift 25# from floor to waist.
Sit for long periods of time w/the ability to use a computer and phone.
Ability to walk up and down stairs.
Work inside in many environments.
Work outside in extreme temperatures.
Riding and driving for long periods of time.
Be able to work in a fast-paced office environment and be able to multitask.
Be able to navigate stairs and/or ladders in order to properly measure.
