OVD Controls Engineer
Norcross, GA
JOB PURPOSE:
Under general supervision oversees the operation and maintenance of a wide variety of control systems that are used to continuously operate production and support equipment. Due to variation in the nature and function of these systems, this position requires extensive knowledge of control system operation and programming to safely modify, maintain, and interact with the controls portion of these systems. Provides process controls support to all OVD equipment and systems integral to the safe operation of the manufacturing area including chemical delivery, chemical detection, preform making and processing operations. Implements process control solutions for trouble-shooting existing equipment, installation of new equipment, and support of daily operating requirements.
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Equivalent
Preferred areas of study include Electrical Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Manufacturing or industrial experience of >5 years
MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: (Preferred qualifications)
MS degree or above Electrical engineering
Proven capability in PLC programming languages
Programming knowledge in C+, Python, MS.NET, etc.
Computer networking knowledge
Database experience in SQL or equivalent
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Subject matter expert in OVD process controls system
Includes both internal & external facilities
Implement safe, quality oriented and cost-effective controls into manufacturing processes for business continuity and continuous improvement
Includes life-safety and facilities systems
Lead technical projects through all phases; from conceptualization, to cost analysis, to equipment design and construction, to final prove-in and transfer to production
Work as bridge between the manufacturing team and R&D teams for development and implementation of new products and processes
Develop and prove-in new equipment and processes.
Troubleshooting existing equipment problems and processes
Perform data analysis for process and product improvements
Ability to apply a multidiscipline, international approach to process development and problem solving
Provide a collaborative learning environment within the manufacturing, maintenance, and engineering organizations that leads to effective and timely production problem solving
Support daily equipment operating requirements to meet production targets and drive continuous improvement
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
PLC programming of IEC 61131-3 compatible controllers, Mitsubishi Omron, Rockwell
Experience developing PLC programs using multiple vendor hardware for process and discrete controls
Proficient with SCADA systems - Ignition, Aveva, Rockwell
Proven experience designing and implementing process controls (hardware & software) for safety, quality and yield improvements
Experience with PLC safety standards IEC 61508, IEC 61511, and ISO 13849
Knowledge and experience with applicable NEC or UL/CSA standards for electrical equipment and electrical construction best practices
Proven creative/innovative mindset and effective problem-solving ability to work as a team player
Superior technical knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and chemical systems in industrial applications and integration
Ability to apply a multidiscipline, international approach to process development and problem solving
Project management experience proving capability of independently leading large scale, complex, cross functional technical projects
Strong communication skills with proven ability to work with a diverse team of technical and non-technical staff
Excellent documentation and presentation skills
