Title: Varsity Cheerleading Coach: Basketball
Reports To: Athletic Director
Position Type: Supplemental Contract
Qualifications:
Experience in the designated sport
Must meet all coaching requirements as specified by the Board of Education and OHSAA, including acquiring a pupil activity permit and CPR certification
Prior coaching experience preferred
Van certification preferred
Essential Job Functions:
Winter Sport Season
Chaperones cheerleaders at all varsity, JV, and freshman basketball games.
Oversees regularly scheduled practices during basketball season.
Plans pep assemblies and spirit activities and directs cheerleaders in their activities for such events.
Inventories, assigns, and collects uniforms.
Works with the Athletic Director to develop the eligibility list and advises cheerleaders.
Works with the Athletic Director in arranging transportation to all cheerleader events, away games, competition, and summer camp.
Arranges and coordinates the clinic and tryouts for the cheerleader selection.
Spring and Summer Sport Season
Advises potential cheerleaders of the requirements to be a high school cheerleader.
Arranges summer camp, coordinates and chaperones other competitive events during the school year in which the cheerleaders participate.
Ensures all cheerleaders have the required physical examinations prior to attending camp or at the beginning of the school year.
Works with the Athletic Director to arrange for cheerleader awards program each season.
Works with captains during the summer months to ensure that regular practices are taking place and that all cheerleaders know about summer camp arrangements.
General Year-Round Duties
Handles all fundraising projects in which the cheerleaders are engaged.
Approves any expenditures from the cheerleader account.
Handles disciplinary problems that arise following the rules set down in the cheerleader's constitution.
Works with administration, faculty, parent groups, and cheerleaders to coordinate information.
Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Potential exposure to blood or other bodily fluids and tissue
Occasional operation of a vehicle in inclement weather
Regular requirement to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, see and read
Regular requirement to lift equipment, up to 50 pounds
