Litigation Paralegal

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Litigation Paralegal to support our litigation team in managing a high-volume caseload from intake through trial. The ideal candidate will assist attorneys with case preparation, discovery, drafting pleadings and motions, e-filing, client communication, and trial coordination. Experience with workers' compensation matters and familiarity with paralegal and legal assistant duties are a strong plus. This role requires excellent organizational skills, a working knowledge of litigation procedures, and the ability to prioritize deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Manage and maintain case files, including organizing pleadings, correspondence, exhibits, and discovery documents.

Prepare and draft routine legal documents such as complaints, answers, motions, subpoenas, and settlement agreements under attorney supervision.

Coordinate and respond to discovery requests: prepare interrogatories, requests for production, requests for admission, and summaries of responses.

Assist with e-filing, court calendaring, and tracking statutes of limitations, court dates, and deadlines.

Support deposition, mediation, and trial preparation: coordinate logistics, prepare witness binders, exhibits, and trial notebooks.

Communicate regularly with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, and third parties to schedule hearings, depositions, and meetings.

Conduct factual and legal research as assigned, summarize case law and factual investigations for attorneys.

Assist with workers' compensation matters as needed, including claims management, medical records collection, and liaison with adjusters and healthcare providers.

Maintain and update case management systems, ensure accurate document indexing and tagging, and generate reports for attorneys.

Perform general legal assistant duties such as billing time entries, processing invoices, and handling mail and correspondence.Qualifications

Associate degree or paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program; Bachelors degree preferred.

2+ years of litigation paralegal experience in a law firm or corporate legal department; experience with workers' compensation matters highly desirable.

Strong knowledge of civil litigation procedures, discovery processes, and court rules.

Proficiency with e-filing systems, case management software (e.g., Clio, MyCase, Filevine), and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong proofreading and document-drafting abilities.

Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines and priorities.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and maintain client confidentiality and professional judgment.

Paralegal certification (e.g., NALA, NFPA) or bar admission is a plus.
