Overview:

The Plant Operator / Equipment Operator / Process Technician will operate and monitor industrial equipment/systems for a plastics processing facility.

Responsibilities (once trained):

Operate, inspect, and monitor in a safe, efficient, reliable, and environmentally sound manner steam power plant equipment (some examples include: Boiler / Furnace equipment, Turbine/Generator and its associated auxiliary equipment, Fuel Systems, Plant Auxiliary Systems includes valves, pumps, blowers, Environmental Control Process equipment, and Water Treatment Systems).

Recognize safety hazards and follow safety guidelines for personal protection, protection of fellow workers and the protection of the public.

Learn proper operating procedures.

Observe variations in operating conditions and interpret meter and gauge readings to troubleshoot plant equipment to resolve operational problems.

Monitor and record data available through the use of various instruments, recording charts, and other monitoring devices onto shift logs as directed by plant operational procedures.

Perform routine cleaning of work area.

Skills & Qualifications:

Willing to work hard and be coachable. No education is required.

Forklift experience is highly preferred.

Computer literacy is a must.

Must be able to troubleshoot and solve simple problems.

Must be reliable and have a sense of pride in your work.

Must be able to lift a bag weighing 50lbs with ease.

Working Conditions:

8am to 5pm, Mon - Fri, with no more than 4-6 hrs. overtime/week, exact hours can be discussed.

Plastics processing is dirty, you will have to deal with dirty waste material on a daily basis.

This job will be in the Houston heat a lot.

Around large rotating equipment, energized electrical equipment in high noise areas, and/or in confined places, on elevations in excess of 250 feet, or from platforms at heights of 5 feet or greater.

Climb stairways, ladders, and work from aerial devices.

Be able to move up to 50lbs without assistance.

Other Relevant Information:

This role is an entry level position (less than 5 years of experience). The starting hourly rate is in the low 20s.

This is a very hands-on role in an industrial facility. Not an office position / directing others to do the work.

This is a non-smoking facility. You can not smoke anywhere in or near the facility even if you are off the clock.

Must be able to pass a drug screening, background check and have a valid driver license.
