Summary of Position:

The Development Manager is responsible for executing all phases of the development lifecycle for multifamily and mixed-use real estate projects. This role will focus on planning, entitlements, financial analysis, and overall project management-from initial feasibility through stabilization.

The Development Manager will work collaboratively across internal teams and external partners, managing multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring disciplined execution, financial performance, and high-quality outcomes.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Oversee and execute all aspects of the development process, including budgeting, planning, design, entitlements, construction, and lease-up stabilization.

Review architectural and engineering plans to ensure design quality, constructability, and cost efficiency.

Coordinate and manage architects, designers, engineers, and other third-party consultants.

Prepare, maintain, and track project budgets; develop and deliver monthly development reports.

Prepare and manage financial projections, monthly draw requests, and related analyses for development and operations.

Partner with the Managing Director, Senior Director, and Investment Associates to underwrite new development opportunities, including analysis of:

Market and demographic area

Rental comparables

Construction costs

Permits, fees, and entitlement requirements

Local supply and demand dynamics

Collaborate with the Investments team to prepare materials for internal Investment Committee reviews, as well as offering memoranda for equity partners and lenders.

Provide leadership, direction, and mentorship to junior team members, as applicable.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Real Estate, Construction Management, Finance, Civil Engineering, Building Sciences, Humanities, or a related field required.

MBA or other relevant master's degree preferred.

3-5 years of progressive experience in real estate development, land development, or project management, preferably with a multifamily focus.

Demonstrated ability to manage complex development projects and cross-functional teams.

Strong understanding of development and construction processes.

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).

Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently in a fast-paced environment.

Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and plan sets.

Strong work ethic with a high level of attention to detail.

Physical Requirements and Disclaimer:

This position is primarily a sedentary office-based role and requires the ability to routinely operate a computer and other standard office equipment. The role also requires the ability to communicate effectively, including speaking and hearing, and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, reach, and occasionally lift, carry, or move items weighing up to 25 pounds. Fine motor skills and finger dexterity are required for keyboarding and other detailed tasks.
