Job Description:
PPL Corporation is seeking a Data Security Principal Architect to join its Cybersecurity organization as a strategic leader and technical expert. This role is responsible for defining architecting, and implementing enterprise-wide data protection strategies across structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data environments.
This position uniquely combines traditional data protection and compliance frameworks with modern AI-driven security practices, including securing LLM pipelines, vector databases, and next-generation encryption techniques.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 10+ years of experience in:
o Information Security
o Data Architecture
o Data Security Engineering
• Strong expertise in:
o Azure Purview
o Microsoft Defender
o Data Loss Prevention (DLP) tools
o Cloud platforms (Azure preferred)
o Snowflake
• Experience designing and securing:
o Data lakes / data warehouses
o Hybrid and cloud environments
• Strong understanding of:
o Cryptographic standards (AES, SHA, TLS)
o Identity and access management
o Data governance frameworks
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in utilities or highly regulated industries
• Hands-on experience with:
o Azure Synapse
o DSPM platforms
o Legacy data migration (e.g., tape archives)
• Exposure to:
o AI/ML security
o Responsible AI frameworks
o LLM security patterns
• Certifications:
o CISSP
o SANS / GIAC
o Microsoft Azure Security certifications
• Knowledge of:
o Quantum-resistant cryptography concepts
o Privacy-enhancing technologies
