Position Description Processes prisoners in Identification Bureau by recording demographic, arrest and /or court ordered data, capturing fingerprint and palm images via a live scan, and processing the records through the local Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS). Compares fingerprints images for repeat offenders "one to one" for positive ID using a magnifying glass.

Captures mug photos and tattoos and update information on computer.

Completes forms required by the courts and /or administration.

Submit criminal records to State and Federal law enforcement agencies.

File and create documents using numbering systems, monthly reports, logs and complete filing.

Assist and communicate with outside law enforcement agencies and court systems.

Processes identification of employees.

Appears in court as a witness when necessary.

Other duties that may be assigned by and ID supervisor or uniform supervisor or relayed by person of the same or lesser rank.

Minimum Qualifications * High school diploma or GED.

* Ability to type 35 wpm.

* Ability to become LEADS Certified.

Additional Requirements * Proficient PC skills for various tasks including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office applications and other Windows based programs.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of public relations and agency policies and procedures.

Ability to recognize grammatical and spelling errors.

Ability to gather collate and classify data and/or people.

Ability to handle sensitive inquiries from and contacts with officials and general public.

Ability to identify distinguishing characteristics of fingerprints.

Ability to work in a team environment, communicate orally and in writing.

Ability to articulate the ID process for court testimony.

Ability to read and understand directions and materials vital to the responsibilities assigned by the Sheriff's Office, including but not limited, training manuals, agency policy and procedures and written orders and correspondence.

Unusual Working Conditions May be exposed to dangerous inmates and/or bodily fluids.

Must be able to photograph all areas of the body as required by policy and procedure.

Ability to walk, stand, or sit for extended or intermittent periods of time.
