R&D Engineer (Entry Level)

Job Description

The R&D Technician performs combustion performance testing on commercial and industrial burner products that are manufactured on-site. He or she is required to document testing irregularities/performance issues with products.

Duties and Responsibilities

Contribute to the development of new burner products.

Read and understand wiring diagrams, schematics, and blueprints.

Assemble burner and control panels.

Pipe oil lines, gas trains, feed water systems and steam headers to boilers.

Perform mounting and reading of test instruments, recording readings and test data with knowledge of normal parameters. Maintain well organized written reports and project records in a manner that the results can be analyzed and used by others.

Maintain a neat, clean, and functional work area at all times.

Ensure compliance with all safety rules and standards.

Assist other Fire Test Lab technicians with any lab, service and R & D functions as required.

Other duties as assigned.

Skills/Qualifications/Requirements

Computer literacy; competency in use of all programs within MS Office Suite and aptitude for learning specialized software programs.

Minimum of 2 years' experience directly involved in troubleshooting and field repair of burners/boilers.

Individuals should possess excellent communication skills and have a strong orientation for customer focus and teamwork. Must be responsive to all customer issues. Must be willing and able to travel.

Must be able to work safely and follow safety precautions in extreme environments (temperature, humidity, noise, confined spaces, etc.) around dangerous industrial equipment.

The employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands/fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb, ascend/descend or balance to heights that may require a ladder or lift; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl in confined spaces; and talk or hear.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds.
