Middle School Physical Education Teacher (Metro Schools)

Title: Middle School Physical Education Teacher Position Type: Grades 6-8 Posting Date: January 28, 2026 Position Start Date: For the 2026-2027 SY Closing Date: When Filled Description: The middle school physical education teacher is responsible for creating a classroom environment that promotes and develops an understanding of the relationship of exercise and a healthy body.

The physical education teacher instructs and develops students within physical education, health, rhythm/dance and individual and team sports.

Minimum Qualifications: Teaching licensure for the State of Ohio or the ability to obtain substitute licensure for the State of Ohio Responsibilities and Essential Functions: * Analyzes, demonstrates, and explains basic skills, knowledge and strategies of formal sports, games, dances, and fundamentals of body movement.

* Develops lesson plans to guide instruction and student outcomes * Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities * Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to provide an orderly, productive environment in the physical education areas.

* Provides appropriate safety instruction and makes safety checks on equipment to ensure the overall safety of students.

* Evaluates academic and social growth of students and keeps appropriate records to include attendance and assignment/assessment grades * Communicates with parents on student progress.

* Supervises students in out of classroom activities during the assigned working day.

* Coaches, instructs and counsels each student regarding his/her academic, behavioral and social emotional progress * Works collaboratively with other instructors to construct and maintain a high-quality integrated learning environment * Collects, analyzes, and utilizes assessment data to identify students' immediate & long-range needs to develop lesson plans for assignments & activities that meet and extend student learning opportunities * Facilitates learning beyond the school day through office hours * Transparency and willingness to share best practices * Play multiple roles beyond the classroom including student recruitment and admissions, new program development, communication with multiple districts, partnership development with outside organizations, and collaboration with other center initiatives.

* Provides services that implement the educational mission and follows all institutional policies of Metro Early College Middle School.
