Position Overview

CKC Operations is seeking a skilled and dependable Asphalt Hot Plant Operator to oversee the daily operation, maintenance, and production of our asphalt plant. This role is critical to ensuring high-quality mix production, operational efficiency, and minimal downtime.

The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and capable of managing plant operations in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Operate and monitor asphalt hot plant equipment to ensure consistent production

Control mix design settings, material feed rates, and temperatures

Perform daily plant inspections and preventative maintenance

Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and operational issues

Coordinate with dispatch, QC, and paving crews to meet production demands

Maintain accurate production reports and plant logs

Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and MSHA/OSHA standards

Manage aggregate inventory, asphalt cement levels, and material flow

Assist with plant setup, tear-down, and relocation as needed

Qualifications

2+ years of experience operating an asphalt hot plant (preferred)

Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability

Knowledge of asphalt mix designs and production processes

Familiarity with plant control systems (Astec, ADM, etc.)

Ability to work long hours, including nights and weekends during peak season

Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred but not required)

Ability to work in outdoor conditions and physically demanding environments

Preferred Skills

Experience with Astec, Gencor, or ADM plants

Welding, fabrication, or electrical experience

Knowledge of preventative maintenance programs

Strong communication and leadership skills
