Job Description
The National Association of Home Builders’ Summer Internship Program offers a structured, hands-on experience designed to provide meaningful exposure to the housing industry and the policy environment that shapes it. Located in the National Housing Center and based in Washington, D.C., the summer program places interns alongside experienced professionals, where they contribute to real-time initiatives, develop practical skills, and gain insight into the work of a national trade association.
As part of the Business Development team, the Business Development Intern will support revenue-generating initiatives by assisting with sales and marketing materials, prospect research, and online content updates. This role provides direct exposure to business development strategy, market research, sales support, and digital content management and is ideal for a student interested in business, marketing, communications, sales, or a related field.
What You’ll Do
Assist with updating media kits and other sales materials used to support the team’s marketing and revenue-generating efforts
Prepare and compare data sets to help develop materials that support sales initiatives for the 2026 and 2027 years
Conduct research on prospective companies, industry contacts, competitive shows, and trade publications to help identify new business opportunities
Help organize and maintain materials used in outreach, marketing, and client development efforts, and support the posting and updating of sales-related content online
Assist the team with project and administrative support tied to business development priorities
Contribute to efforts that help strengthen visibility, generate leads, and support future sales growth

Who You Are
Strong Excel skills, including the ability to manipulate data and cross-reference information accurately
Comfort working with Adobe PDF documents and updating materials in a polished, professional format
Ability to post and manage information online with accuracy and attention to detail
Basic HTML skills are helpful
Strong research skills and the ability to identify relevant companies, contacts, and industry trends
Organized and able to manage multiple assignments effectively, with good written and verbal communication skills
Interest in business development, sales, marketing, communications, or a related field
