Supervises and instructs students with and without disabilities to provide basic skill development in areas of physical education; carries out all aspects of professional responsibility as designated in the school's administration guidelines; plans, develops and implements written daily lesson plans for assigned students in order to meet the objectives as established on the student's team report; plans reviews and selects instructional materials for use in the program implementation.
Performs student assessment by formal and informal methods in order to obtain and evaluative data with the support of a transdisciplinary team to develop a team report; assists in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the team report for assigned students.
Participates in and/or provides staff training programs; maintains a classroom environment which is conducive to learning and free of health and safety hazards; reads professional literature and attends seminars, academic classes or workshops to enhance professional knowledge and skills in areas such as, but not limited to behavior modification, systematic training, counseling, instructional and/or curriculum development; attends and participates in staff meetings to obtain and provide information.
Provides consultation services with parents and guardians to ensure comprehension of classroom objectives and to promote generalization of skills in home environment; provides mentoring for new adapted physical education specialist.
Provides other duties as assigned.
