Akkodis is seeking a Sr Java developer for a full time position with a client in Pittsburgh, PA. Ideally looking for applicants with a solid background in the financial services industry .

We are hiring a Senior Vice President (SVP) Full Stack Engineer to support a mission-critical federal aviation (FAA-aligned) program with strict delivery timelines and high-performance system requirements.

This is a hands-on, senior-level engineering role within an active build phase running April through June, followed by continued platform expansion. You will play a key role in designing and delivering scalable, secure systems in a highly regulated environment.

Location & Work Requirements

Location: Pittsburgh, PA

Schedule: ~4 days onsite (not a remote role)

Full time Salary : $160 – $175,000

Role Overview

This is a backend-heavy full stack role (~85% backend / 15% frontend) focused on building high-performance, distributed systems.

You will work closely with engineering, data, and infrastructure teams to design scalable services, optimize system performance, and contribute to architecture decisions across the platform.

Key Responsibilities

Design and develop scalable, high-performance backend services

Architect and implement distributed systems with strong reliability

Evaluate trade-offs across scalability, availability, and data consistency

Contribute to system design and infrastructure-level decisions

Partner with cross-functional teams on cloud, data, and application architecture

Support lightweight frontend components (Angular or React) as needed

Core Technology Stack

Backend

Java (21+)

Spring Boot (3.5+ preferred)

Cloud & Infrastructure

Microsoft Azure (primary)

Cross-region failover and resiliency design

AWS or GCP experience is a plus

Data

Oracle (current environment)

Exposure to Snowflake or Databricks is a plus

Security & Compliance

Experience working in regulated environments (e.g., FedRAMP or similar)

Strong understanding of:

Secure coding practices

Encryption (symmetric vs. asymmetric)

System-level security design and trade-offs

AI-Enabled Engineering (Required)

You must demonstrate hands-on use of AI tools within your development workflow, including:

Prompt engineering for code generation

Test creation and validation

Debugging and reviewing AI-generated code

This is a core competency and will be evaluated during the interview process.

Basic Qualifications

10+ years of software engineering experience

Strong expertise in Java and Spring Boot

Proven experience building distributed systems at scale

Deep understanding of cloud architecture (Azure preferred)

Experience with performance optimization and system reliability
