Refrigeration Design Engineer

This organization delivers full lifecycle refrigeration solutions including design, engineering, installation, and service, supporting some of the most demanding temperature-controlled environments in the country.

The Refrigeration Designer will support refrigeration design and construction teams by developing detailed 2D models, layouts, and construction-ready drawings for industrial refrigeration piping systems.

This role works closely with engineers, project managers, and field teams to ensure designs are accurate, coordinated, and optimized for constructability and installation efficiency.

Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop detailed models for refrigeration piping systems including suction, liquid, discharge, oil, and gas pipingProduce coordinated construction documents, layout drawings, and spooling packagesCollaborate with refrigeration engineers and project managers to interpret system designs and installation requirementsCoordinate piping layouts with structural, architectural, and mechanical trades to avoid clashesMaintain accurate drawings, revisions, and documentation throughout the project lifecycleSupport constructability reviews and respond to field questions during installationAssist with as-built documentation and project closeout drawingsParticipate in coordination meetings as needed to support project delivery Required Qualifications3+ years of experience as a designer or detailer using AutoCADExperience supporting industrial or commercial mechanical construction projectsStrong understanding of piping systems, layouts, and isometric developmentAbility to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and piping schematicsStrong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple active projectsEffective communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams Preferred SkillsExperience with industrial refrigeration piping systemsFamiliarity with ammonia or large-scale refrigeration applicationsKnowledge of fabrication, installation sequencing, and field construction practicesExperience coordinating with BIM models from other tradesExposure to Navisworks or similar clash detection toolsUnderstanding of construction documentation standards and best practices Physical & Behavioral ExpectationsReasonable accommodations may be provided as needed.
