Supply Chain Materials Manager – Warehouse & Inventory Operations Location: Rincon, GA (On-site; relocation required) Position Summary Virginia Transformer is seeking a highly organized and operationally focused Supply Chain Materials Manager – Warehouse & Inventory Operations to lead warehouse management, inventory control, and materials procurement activities for our Rincon manufacturing facility.
This role ensures that materials are procured, received, stored, tracked, and delivered to production efficiently and accurately.
The Materials Manager is responsible for maintaining inventory integrity, optimizing warehouse processes, and ensuring material availability aligns with manufacturing schedules and customer delivery commitments.
The ideal candidate has strong experience managing warehouse operations, inventory accuracy, material flow, and procurement coordination within a heavy manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities Warehouse & Inventory ManagementLead and oversee all warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, kitting, and material distribution to production lines.Ensure accurate material accounting and inventory tracking within the warehouse.Maintain and manage perpetual inventory systems across all manufacturing materials and consumables.Monitor and control inventory levels to support production requirements while minimizing excess inventory.Implement and enforce warehouse organization, material labeling, and storage best practices.Conduct regular inventory audits and cycle counts to ensure inventory accuracy.
Material Flow & Production SupportEnsure timely availability of materials required for production schedules.Oversee material kitting processes to support efficient manufacturing workflows.Monitor and manage plant “Hot List,” short reports, and material shortage processes.Coordinate with production planning to align warehouse operations with manufacturing demand.
Procurement & Supply CoordinationEnsure procurement of materials aligns with company policies and production schedules.Work with vendors and suppliers to ensure timely material delivery and cost effectiveness.Maintain vendor history records and track supplier performance.Monitor freight costs, delivery timelines, and supply chain disruptions.
Inventory Optimization & Cost ControlMonitor key inventory metrics including:Inventory turnoverExcess or slow-moving materialsFreight costsMaterial shortagesIdentify opportunities to reduce inventory carrying costs while maintaining production readiness.Recommend adjustments to Min/Max levels and MRP planning parameters.
Quality & ComplianceCoordinate inspection of incoming materials to ensure quality standards are met.Address supplier material quality issues and coordinate corrective actions.Ensure warehouse and inventory processes comply with company standards and operating procedures.
Leadership & Team ManagementSchedule and direct the daily activities of purchasing and inventory control teams.Ensure effective coordination between warehouse, procurement, and production teams.Provide leadership, training, and development for warehouse and inventory staff.Communicate operational risks or supply issues to management promptly.
Required Skills & AbilitiesStrong knowledge of warehouse operations and inventory control systems.Excellent organizational and planning skills.Strong leadership and team management capability.Proficiency in inventory reporting systems and ERP platforms.Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.Strong communication and collaboration skills across departments.
Education & ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, or related field required.Minimum 5 years of materials management, warehouse leadership, or inventory control experience in a heavy manufacturing environment.Certification in Materials Management or Supply Chain (APICS or similar) preferred.
