Data Platform Manager

Job Summary

We are seeking a Data Platform Manager to lead a team of platform engineers within a data technology organization. This role is responsible for driving the migration of data assets to the cloud, managing data platform operations, and aligning technology initiatives with business strategies. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performing data solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage a team of engineers and contractors, including resource allocation, coaching, and professional development

Translate technical designs into physical data models aligned with governance, architecture, and business requirements

Oversee data ingestion processes and support downstream systems for reporting and analytics

Collaborate with stakeholders to prototype and recommend data platform solutions leveraging modern technologies

Develop and maintain a strategic technology roadmap for data platforms, including execution of initiatives

Ensure stable platform operations by proactively managing and reporting on operational metrics

Stay current with emerging technologies and align platform capabilities with business objectives Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field

7+ years of experience managing data warehouse or data platform teams

Experience implementing cloud-based and enterprise data solutions

Proficiency with AWS technologies such as Lambda, S3, EC2, and IAM

Experience with ETL/data movement tools such as AWS Glue, Informatica, or IBM Infosphere

Knowledge of DevOps practices, continuous delivery, and infrastructure as code

Experience with one or more programming languages such as Python, Java, Scala, or C/C++

Strong organizational, leadership, and team management skills

Ability to collaborate across teams and communicate technical concepts to diverse audiences

Experience with data governance, data management, and data quality practices Preferred Qualifications

7+ years of experience in an IT environment

Experience evaluating and implementing emerging cloud data technologies

Relevant certifications in public cloud platforms

Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with developers, analysts, and business stakeholders
