Job Description
The Electrical Maintenance Technician (Level 3) supports field electrical maintenance activities, including electrical isolation procedures such as Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), for systems such as lighting, HVAC, and motors. This role is responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems and equipment in industrial or commercial environments. The position also provides technical guidance to junior personnel and ensures safe, efficient, and compliant execution of maintenance tasks.
Responsibilities
Perform electrical maintenance and support safe isolation procedures (LOTO) for various electrical systems and equipment
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair electrical malfunctions and failures
Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical systems, motors, controls, and associated equipment
Assemble, test, and modify electrical machinery, control systems, and components according to engineering specifications
Record maintenance data, analyze equipment performance, and recommend repair, modification, or replacement
Provide technical guidance and support to lower-level technicians on complex issues
Ensure compliance with safety standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements
Communicate field conditions clearly and provide recommendations for corrective actions
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to complete maintenance activities efficiently
Adapt to changing priorities, deadlines, and workload demands
Skills and Qualifications
Previous experience in electrical maintenance or a closely related field
Relevant certifications in electrical or instrumentation disciplines, or equivalent hands-on experience
Knowledge of electrical systems, including motors, lighting, HVAC systems, and control circuits
Experience with electrical isolation procedures (LOTO) and safe work practices
Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for electrical and control systems
Effective communication skills with the ability to clearly document and report field conditions
Team-oriented mindset with the ability to work collaboratively across teams
Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Preferred / Desired Skills:
Experience with high-voltage power transmission and distribution systems
Background in electrical dispatch or operations environments
Familiarity with SCADA systems (e.g., Ignition, Wonderware, GE HMI)
Experience with industrial analytics tools (e.g., Seeq)
Knowledge of SCADA platforms such as Aspentech (Monarch) or ABB Xenon
Experience in instrumentation, controls, and electrical systems integration
