Location: 600 East Broad Street, Richmond, VA

Work Mode: Hybrid (3 days onsite per week)

Job Overview & Description

The Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) Interface Systems Analyst will play a key role in coordinating with multiple Medicaid Enterprise System (MES) vendors to manage the exchange of electronic data and interfaces supporting MMIS and MES modules. The role involves handling file transfers, real-time and near real-time data exchanges, and ensuring seamless integration between systems and trading partners.

The analyst will analyze data structures, provide guidance on data mapping, and review and support configurations and coding used for managing data exchanges between MES modules and trading partners. This position also involves active participation in interface testing, trading partner testing, and end-to-end system validation.

The role requires strong coordination and communication skills, along with a solid understanding of SFTP/HTTPS protocols, batch processing, EDI standards, DevOps practices, SDLC processes, and Agile methodology. The candidate must be capable of working independently while collaborating effectively with both business and technical teams in a multi-vendor environment.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Collaborate with business and technical teams to understand requirements, design elements, and changes impacting MMIS and MES modules.

• Analyze data structures and provide guidance on data mapping and transformation logic.

• Review and validate configurations and coding developed for data exchanges between MES modules and trading partners.

• Understand and manage interface workflows, including file transfers via SFTP/HTTPS and system integration points.

• Develop comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test data to validate system changes.

• Coordinate and execute:

o Interface Testing

o Trading Partner Testing

o End-to-End Testing across multiple systems and vendors

• Work closely with DMAS external vendors to set up and execute testing activities.

• Monitor testing schedules, track execution progress, and communicate risks or issues in a timely manner.

• Lead defect triage calls involving multiple vendors and ensure defects are tracked through to resolution.

• Serve as a liaison between DMAS vendors, business users, and MES module vendors to troubleshoot and resolve escalated issues.

• Perform interface testing and verify integration behavior across file transfers and system handoffs.

• Prepare and present test results, execution metrics, and summary reports to DMAS leadership.

• Ensure proper documentation, issue tracking, and escalation of risks throughout the testing lifecycle.

• Maintain high standards of professionalism, accountability, customer service, and integrity in all tasks.

Required Qualifications & Certifications

• Minimum 8+ years of experience working with business and technical teams on MMIS/MES systems or similar environments.

• At least 5+ years of experience in analyzing data structures and providing data mapping solutions.

• Minimum 5+ years of experience with interface workflows, SFTP/HTTPS protocols, and system integrations.

• 8+ years of experience in:

o Interface Testing

o Trading Partner Testing

o End-to-End Testing

• Strong experience in developing test plans, test cases, and managing testing lifecycle activities.

• Proven ability to lead defect triage sessions and coordinate across multiple vendors.

• Strong understanding of EDI transactions and standards.

• Hands-on experience with:

o Batch file processing

o Data exchange systems

o Multi-system integrations

• Solid knowledge of:

o DevOps practices

o SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle)

o Agile methodology

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to:

o Summarize test outcomes

o Interact with diverse stakeholders

• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage deadlines and work independently.

Preferred Certifications:

• Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP)

• Certified Software Tester (ISTQB or equivalent)

• Agile/Scrum Certification (CSM, PMI-ACP, or equivalent)
