Position Overview
Role: Sterile Processing Technician / Instrumentation Coordinator
Shift: 2nd Shift – Monday to Friday (3:00 PM – 11:30 PM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Floating: Yes (multiple locations across health system)
Travelers Accepted: Yes (first-time travelers allowed with 3+ year's experience)
Role Summary
Responsible for full-cycle sterile processing and instrumentation coordination across a large health system, ensuring all surgical instruments and equipment are properly decontaminated, sterilized, tracked, and delivered safely for patient care.
Key Responsibilities
Perform decontamination (drills, scopes, DaVinci robotics)
Assemble trays for all service lines (trauma, loaners, peel packs)
Execute sterilization processes (Steam & STERRAD)
Handle HLD and scope reprocessing
Maintain sterile storage and inventory
Act as OR liaison for instrument coordination
Track instruments using CensiTrac system
Support enterprise-wide instrument allocation and standardization
Requirements
Experience
3+ years required (HARD STOP)
Experience in high-volume / Level I or II trauma or teaching hospital preferred
Certifications
CRCST or CBSPD (required)
Key Skills
Sterile processing (decontam assembly sterilization storage)
Scope reprocessing (AER, HLD)
Sterilization monitoring (biological & chemical indicators)
Experience with:
DaVinci robotics, drills, scopes
Specialty instruments (ortho, neuro, vascular, etc.)
