Machine Operator

Pay: $18.00 - $24.00 per hour

Job description:

Wald Wire is seeking a skilled and mechanically inclined Machine Operator to operate and maintain our Schlatter wire processing equipment amongst other wire production machines. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, troubleshooting machinery, and being part of a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

You’ll play a key role in producing high-quality wire products while ensuring equipment runs efficiently and safely.

What You’ll Do

Machine Operation & Setup

Set up, operate, and maintain Schlatter machines and related wire processing equipment

Load raw materials and ensure proper machine operation throughout production runs

Monitor machine performance and make adjustments as needed

Troubleshooting & Maintenance

Identify and resolve mechanical issues (non-electrical)

Perform routine cleaning, lubrication, and preventative maintenance

Assist with machine audits and performance improvements

Production & Quality

Interpret work orders, blueprints, and production schedules

Measure and verify product dimensions using calipers and measuring tools

Maintain accurate production counts and inventory tracking

Complete all required production and quality documentation

Material Handling

Load and unload wire spools safely and efficiently

Operate forklifts and material handling equipment

Move finished goods and raw materials as needed

Team & Safety

Follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements

Support team members and contribute to a positive, productive work environment

Maintain regular and reliable attendance

What We’re Looking For

Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills

Ability to read blueprints and production drawings

Comfortable working with measurements, fractions, and decimals

Experience in manufacturing, machine operation, or equipment setup preferred

Forklift experience (or willingness to become certified)

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand for extended periods

Frequent lifting up to 50 lbs (up to 100 lbs with assistance)

Bending, crouching, and reaching as needed

Ability to work in varying temperatures depending on season
